LaFave at the Peg Egan PAC

The Peg Egan Performing Arts Center (PAC) presents Jimmy LaFave on July 6 at 7 pm.

It was in the Oklahoman landscape that LaFave began to define his sound and soak up a combination of his experiences among authentic songwriters from the tradition of Woody Guthrie.

LaFave’s self–produced CD, Austin Skyline, drew international attention to his songwriting and vocal talents, which led to a publishing agreement with Polygram Music.

The grass roots demand and critical acclaim for LaFave’s music led to an invitation, by Nora Guthrie, to appear in Cleveland at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to Woody Guthrie. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, and has played in it twelve straight years.

In 2005, LaFave was granted permission by Nora Guthrie to look through the unseen lyrics from the Woody Guthrie Archives. She helped him choose 19 songs for a future “Woody” CD project, where he will co–write music for the lyrics using his own style and interpretations.

The Peg Egan PAC is located on Church Street in Egg Harbor, and all concerts are free and open to the public. Remember to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Carry-ins are allowed. In case of rain, all concerts will be held at the Calvary Methodist Church, 4650 Country Road E, Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.493.5979.
