Land Trust Hosts “Explore the Door” Earth Day Hike

The Door County Land Trust has three ways to inspire people to take an outdoor adventure in celebration of Earth Day and the warmer days ahead. Join them for a guided Earth Day hike at the Heins Creek Nature Preserve, try their Apple or Android hiking trail app, or request a free “Hiking Trails of the Door County Land Trust” map.

On April 22, the Explore the Door Earth Day hike begins at the new Heins Creek Nature preserve at 1 pm. Heins Creek, a Class II trout stream, connects Kangaroo Lake to Lake Michigan. Each spring, it teems with trout and other fish swimming up the creek from Lake Michigan. The 90-minute hike is on moderate to easy terrain and is free and open to the public. To register visit DoorCountyLandTrust.org.

Download either Android or Apple versions of our “Hiking Trails of the Door County Land Trust” map to mobile devices, and you’ll be ready to find the preserve nearest you at a moment’s notice. The apps have trails maps, descriptions of the terrain, and directions to parking areas at each of thirteen Land Trust nature preserves throughout Door County.
