Last Weekend to See TAP’s “The Amish Project”

The final performances of The Amish Project will be held this weekend, March 18 – 20, at Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) in Sturgeon Bay.

Conceived in the wake of the 2006 school shootings in the Amish community of Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, Jessica Dickey’s fictional exploration of a real-life tragedy allows us to glimpse into the world of Amish culture and to come to grips with the true limits of compassion and forgiveness.

The Amish Project is a devastating and beautiful one-woman performance that compels us to question the paths we take at the crossroads of grief, rage and clemency.

TAP’s 2015 artist-in-residence Katherine Duffy reprises her role from last winter’s production of the play at the Milwaukee Rep.

The Amish Project contains mature themes and is not intended for children 12 and under.

Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 general admission and $10 students.

Coming up next at TAP is A Walk in the Woods from March 31 – April 17, with a pay-what-you-can preview performance on March 30 at 7:30 pm. Opening night will benefit Crossroads at Big Creek.

Third Avenue Playhouse is located at 239 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.1760 or visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
