Last Chance to Catch Door Shakespeare

Time is running out to catch Door Shakespeare’s two sidesplitting 2010 season offerings: William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The Rivals. The performances will run through Aug. 22.

The Rivals is Sheridan’s hilarious Restoration-era tale of love and mistaken identity, featuring Milwaukee actor Debra Babich as the classic word-mangler Mrs. Malaprop. The sharp humor of Sheridan’s wit and the vivid intensity of his characters make The Rivals a true treat.

Much Ado about nothing is Shakespeare’s classic story of romantic love and sparring, played to perfection by one of the best casts Door Shakespeare has ever assembled. After playing to exhilarated audiences all summer, this production of Much Ado is more enjoyable and ebullient than ever.

All Door Shakespeare performances take place outdoors in the beautiful garden at Bjorklunden, within walking distance of the Lake Michigan shoreline. In the vivid setting of Bjorklunden, Shakespeare’s words are as clear as the stars overhead.

Door Shakespeare is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the state of Wisconsin.

Much Ado About Nothing plays on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and The Rivals plays on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. All shows are at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $23 for adults, $16 for students, and $6 for children, and can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by phone (reservations recommended).
