Last Wall Standing

we took pictures
as the old factory building
was demolished
last rites
of a dream unfinished
vibrant for a time
once ran three shifts
now tucked into sleep
covered by a blanket
of grass
no longer belching smoke
no shift whistles
or trucks being loaded
workers long gone
no one to fill the hoppers
tar the roof
or sweep the floor
phones and typewriters silent
ghosts
only we two
attended the funeral
