Lauren Bremer to Fill Gibraltar School Board Seat

Former Gibraltar English teacher Lauren Bremer was appointed to fill Fred Anderson’s seat on the Gibraltar School Board Dec. 9.

Anderson announced his retirement from the board in November. He has served in the position for 27 years. Bremer is managing director at Write On, Door County.

“Mrs. Bremer is recognized by our high school students, graduates, parents and her peers as a highly trained, professional educator,” said a statement from the school. “Her years of teaching experience and post-graduate degrees in English and Leadership give her special insights into school culture, dynamics, and futures-thinking that will make her a very valued Board member.”

Bremer’s experience as a teacher made her the most likely candidate to immediately understand the issues presented on the agendas. Bremer will begin her service Monday, Jan. 13. There are six board meetings until the term is up in April.

She can choose to run for reelection in spring along with other interested candidates, which will take place April 7. There are two open seats. Candidacy papers must be submitted to the School Board Secretary (District Office) by Jan. 7.
