Learn About Door County Prairie Habitats

Are you curious about prairies?  Do you want to know more about healthy grasslands and pollinator habitats and what you might accomplish on your property? Then the Door County Prairie Tour might be for you on Wednesday, June 5, from 9 am – 3 pm.

Participants will visit a variety of constructed prairie habitats in Door County with renowned prairie botanist Dan Carter, who is the staff ecologist with The Prairie Enthusiasts and holds botany degrees from Grinnell and Kansas State. He is an expert in prairie plants and assessing and managing fire-dependent habitats.

The tour will carpool to six different Door County prairies of different sizes in different settings and different stages of development. Participants will meet the managers of these prairies and learn how to grow a prairie, and discover the lessons that were learned along the way to creating diverse and healthy prairie habitats.
