Learn History of Smoked Fish Business

At the June 16th meeting of the Liberty Grove Historical Society, Charles Voight and his son Chris will relate the history of their smoked fish business in Gills Rock, including an account of the “smoked fish” process.

The Voights opened “Charlie’s Smokehouse” in Gills Rock in the 1950s and now also operate the popular “Island Clipper” passenger ferry to Washington Island and back from their dock nearby. The June 16th meeting begins at 7 pm in the historic Century Farm barn at the Historical Society site on Highway 42 atop Ellison Bay bluff. All are welcome to attend.
