Learn the Basics of Nature Journaling

Eager to record your observations of nature but don’t know where to begin? The Ridges Sanctuary can tell you a little about the history of journaling and help you start or add to your own nature journal at The Basics & Future of Nature Journaling on April 9 at 1 pm.

Naturalists have long used journaling to record their casual observations and experiences, leaving a history of their wisdom and knowledge. John Muir’s journals, for example, contained a wealth of recorded experiences from which ten books and over two hundred articles were published.

Come ready to observe, draw, and write, as easy techniques will be demonstrated. Bring a journal, notebook or sketchbook if you have one.

A journaling workshop designed specifically for young children will be offered July 25 at 1 pm.

The nature journaling workshop meets at the Ridges Cabins, 8288 County Q in Baileys Harbor. The workshop is suitable for adults and children over 12 and will be repeated on April 23 at 1 pm. Workshop fees are $10/adult for Ridges members, $13/adult for the general public and $5 for children under 18. For more information or to register, visit RidgesSanctuary.org or call 920.839.2802.
