Learn to Prevent Falls

One in four older adults has a fall each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Wisconsin leads the nation in fall-related deaths for people age 60 and older. The ADRC of the Lakeshore will host the Stepping On program, which has been proven to reduce falls by 31%.

Through seven weekly, two-hour sessions, Stepping On gives participants strategies for avoiding falls, including balance and strength exercises, home safety-check suggestions, medication review and more. Guest experts will also visit. The workshop is designed for people 60 or older who have fallen and have a fear of falling.

The next class will be offered each Wednesday, April 20 – June 1, 9:30-11:30 am, at the Public Health and Human Services Building, 810 Lincoln Street in Kewaunee. It is highly recommended to attend all sessions because each one provides new information. Find out more and register by April 19 by phone at 1.877.416.7083.
