Leave the Cormorants on Hat Island

In response to an article in the Friday May 17, 2019 issue of this paper, titled “Egg Harbor Residents Grow Weary of Cormorant Cannons on Hat Island”:

I don’t blame the Egg Harbor residents for their angst, nor do I understand the reasoning behind the disturbing action to remove the cormorants. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I don’t believe anyone actually lives on Hat Island, so Why not allow the birds to nest there? They need to live somewhere, and I’d rather see them setting up housekeeping on an island than on the peninsula.
