Lecture Series and Movie Screenings Held through March at DCA

Dr. Wendy Scattergood will present the first lecture of the series on Jan. 19.

Door County Auditorium (DCA) will once again host the St. Norbert Distinguished Lecture Series on select Saturday mornings this winter.

January lectures include “The Presidential Election Campaign of 2012” with Dr. Wendy Scattergood on Jan. 19 and “The Wrath of Achilles/The Will of Zeus: Epics of Homer” by Dr. Tom Bolin on Jan. 26.

Lectures slated for the rest of the winter are: “The Recent Trends in Chinese Politics” with Dr. Wayne Patterson (Feb. 9), “Miraculous Beginnings: A Theological Reflection on the Birth Narratives of the Buddha, Jesus Christ, and the Prophet Muhammad” with Dr. Mara Brecht (Feb. 23), and “Climate Change and the Upper Midwest” with Dr. James Hodgson (March 2).

Lectures, all beginning at 9 am, are free to the public; freewill donations are encouraged. Coffee and bakery items will be available for sale from Base Camp Coffee Bar.

Also, on select Fridays, DCA will offer free movie screenings. The movie titles will be posted on the DCA website as they are confirmed, beginning with Moonrise Kingdom on Jan. 18 and Hope Springs on Jan. 25. Films begin at 7 pm and are free to the public; freewill donations are encouraged.
