Last Sunday, Jan. 28 was the Koldwave Fat Bike Race in Sturgeon Bay. It was a ton of fun to photograph and a real challenge to the riders. An exciting morning for sure. I wanted to capture that excitement, but how do you show speed and motion in a still image? I used a slow shutter speed and panned along with the rider so the background and spinning tires would show motion blur, but the rider would still be sharp. I particularly liked this image because you can see the snow flying off the tires. Cool, I’m stoked.
