Len’s Pic of the Week: Autumn through the Trees

Autumn in Door County rivals anywhere else in the country. It’s my favorite season. And we had some spectacular color this year. For this week I chose this image of the sun shining through the trees. If you position the lens correctly it’s easy to get the rays around the sun. I knew the sun would overexpose and appear almost pure white, contrasting nicely with the golden color of the leaves. The gold leaves carry the warm tones from the sun. The almost perfectly straight vertical pine trunks add another contrast to the irregular shape of the leaves, creating balance between the elements. All the elements cause the viewer to look more deeply into the image and the change from summer into winter.
