While photographing on a farm for the upcoming issue of Door County Living magazine, I got to photograph Jake and his human. What intrigued me about Jake was not only how friendly he was, but also how alert and aware he was. His eyes seemed to understand.
So that is what I focused on in this image: that look in his eye that is so captivating. Shooting wide open, the background becomes blurred like a painting, and most of Jake is also slightly blurred, which draws your attention directly to his eye. The tilt of his head and position in the frame also lead the viewer’s eye directly to Jake’s.
If you see with innocent eyes, everything is divine. — Federico Fellini
