Len’s Pick of the Week: Old Fishing Shed

For my pic of the week I chose this photo of an old fishing shed. Door County is known for its fishing history and communities, which are unfortunately disappearing. I feel this image captures that fading past. Winter is sometimes thought of as a less-welcome season that marks the end of summer, when trees and plants seem to die and birds and tourists leave the area. So I shot this image in black and white to emphasize the coating of frost on the wood and windows, and the icicles hanging off the roof. A few remnants of the fishing industry stand in the corner, and they are a sign that winter is temporary and the hope and rebirth of spring remains.
