“Let’s Go Algoma” Receives Health Grant

Ministry Door County Medical Center’s (MDCMC) innovative “Let’s Go Algoma” wellness program was awarded a Wisconsin Department of Health Services Occupational Health Grant to continue into its next phase. This $8,750 grant will help support health and fitness opportunities that are being made available to Algoma residents and businesses free of charge.

Phase one of the “Let’s Go Algoma” project offered free fitness classes to Algoma residents during the winter months. Response was overwhelmingly positive, so MDCMC pursued funding to continue making wellness options available to the community.

Phase two offerings also include a free twelve-week Body, Mind, & Spirit workshop focusing on different health modalities that engage the whole person. In addition, Dr. Nate Hayes, primary care practitioner at Ministry’s Algoma clinic, will reprise his “Walk with Dr. Nate” program, leading a community walking group that will meet each Tuesday at 5:30 pm in the parking lot of the clinic.
