Let’s Go to the Fair

The Door County Fair may have ended, but the images created by Suzanne Rose of a unique time and place in this peninsula’s busy season remain. The County Fair series is a photographic manifestation of Rose’s “small town wonderment; a celebratory portfolio of genuine Americana,” as she puts it.

Rose is a nationally recognized artist who practices the fine art of photography as a “mindful minimalist” – in style and philosophy. Educated at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rose “has always remained close to her Midwestern roots by photographing thematic bodies of works of family and community that explore memory, purpose and place,” she writes of herself.

Rose has offered adult workshops at The Clearing Folk School, Peninsula School of Art and Bjorklunden for more than a decade. Her photographs can be found in many public and private collections, including the Miller Art Museum, Racine Art Museum, Chazen Museum of Art, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.

Rose has lived off the beaten track in southern Door County since 1994.

County Fair: small town wonderment, the book, is due out summer of 2014. For a preview of images, please visit http://www.suzannerose.com.
