Letter to the Editor: Anyone Notice Two Russell Feingolds?

It would be difficult not to notice that there is a Feingold running for the U.S. Senate as the airways are collapsing under the weight of Feingold commercials breathlessly announcing that he has a plan to keep America safe; that he will, if necessary, singlehandedly repel all evildoers from our shores and do all sorts of wonderful things for Wisconsin and our nation. Mr. Feingold says that he approves those messages.

There was, apparently, another Russell Feingold who roosted for 18 years in the Senate; yes, that’s 18 years and this fellow spent all that time jumping to the dictates of the labor union bosses and was otherwise almost forgotten until the day he demonstrated his regard for our nation’s safety by casting a negative vote for one of the most important pieces of legislation in U.S. history. Yes folks, 99 senators including Wisconsin’s senior Senator Herb Kohl voted to pass the Patriot Act. Feingold alone voted “no.”

Could that Russell Feingold be the same man who is now telling you how tough he will be, and how he will do great things for us? Test your memory on that one and on this one, too. Can anyone remember anything at all, anything in those 6,570 days that this guy sat in Senate chambers collecting nearly three million dollars in pay plus perks, that he did for Wisconsin?
