Letter to the Editor: They Should Be Ashamed

The other day, I was watching the news on TV. A Congressional hearing was on and a Congressman was grilling the FBI Director, Christopher Wray, about the political affiliation of various staff members of the FBI. It reminded me of the Joseph McCarthy hearings in 1954. It made me think about the potential Gabriel Hearings that might be held at the Pearly Gates:

Question:  “Have you ever voted to take Health Care away from millions of your constituents?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever voted for a piece of legislation the passage of which you personally gained from financially?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever had the political power to prevent your country’s leadership from knowingly taking actions that threaten its safety security, economic wellbeing, and constructive role on the international stage – and done absolutely nothing to stop it from happening?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever voted for a tax increase for millions of your fellow citizens so that the wealthiest one percent of the population could get a larger piece of the economic pie?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever banned sensible words such as ‘science based,’ ‘climate change,’ ‘fetus, diversity,’ ‘vulnerability,’ or ‘transgender’ from use by a public entity such as the CDC or the EPA?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever supported efforts to make it more difficult for your fellow citizens to vote?”

Preferred Response:  “I have never been and am not now a Republican.”

Question:  “Have you ever been associated with an organization that financed and openly supported a credibly charged pedophile who was running for public office?”

Preferred Response:  “I have never been and am not now a Republican.”

Question:  “Do you honestly believe that Governor Walker’s Foxconn deal is worth $3 billion of taxpayer money?”

Preferred Response:  “I am not now and have never been a Republican.”

And the final question:  “Have you lied in your response to any of the previous questions?”

Preferred Response:  “I have never been and am not now a Republican.”

If the answer is “Yes” to any of Gabriel’s questions, the respondent’s eternity will be spent in the company of Adolph Hitler, Richard Nixon, Donald Trump, Senator Bob “Kickback” Corker, The Wicked Witch of the West, and other similar characters wearing a dayglow sign with the words “Shame On Me.”
