Letter to the Editor: Moral Dilemma

As we watched the tragic events of this past week unfold we should all be outraged. When a mother who lost her child can give a speech for unity and peace, and a president who appears to defend violence and causes unrest, we have a moral dilemma. We have members of Congress that pay lip service to all the outrageous statements this president has said, but don’t do anything, this country suffers. Approximately 620,000 Americans lost their lives in the Civil War and we should display these statues, why? They don’t have to be destroyed but not on prominent display and then honored by hate groups, although it appears that is not what our leader feels. So I wonder when we, the majority of Americans and the people in Congress (the ones not worried about their agenda), say enough is enough and do something, because in the end our silence won’t protect us.
