Letter to the Editor: Thanks for the Support

The 38th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, held at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, was a rousing success feeding 360 individuals – a new record. Over 170 people dined at church and another 190 home deliveries and carry-out meals were provided. People who had no one to be with on the holiday enjoyed warm fellowship and a delicious home cooked meal.

This event, started in 1979, continues to be successful largely due to tremendous community support. We want to thank the 100-plus volunteers who worked so hard throughout the week to organize, prepare, cook, bake, carve, serve, deliver and clean up. An effort of this magnitude requires teamwork, and we continue to be blessed by so many willing workers!

A special note of thanks to our anonymous donors and to the following area businesses and organizations that supported our community meal this year:  Bank Mutual, Bank of Luxemburg, Forbes Funeral Home, Arnold Haberli, Jr. Memorial Fund, Hatco Team, Huehns Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Jim Olson Motors, Maas Floral and Greenhouse, Nicolet Bank, North Shore Bank, Pick ‘N Save, Roder Farms, Sully’s Produce, Sturgeon Bay Health Services, Tadych’s Econo Foods, Tanum Forest Lutheran Church, The Wine Cellar, and Walmart. It is your continuing generosity that makes this joy-filled event possible!
