Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Supporting Children & Families

The late summer and fall have seen a series of fundraisers to benefit the young children and families of Northern Door Children’s Center. First was our call out for help with increasing our scholarship dollars. This was followed by a Renard’s Cheese and Pizza Sale, a spaghetti dinner, our annual poinsettia sale, and during Thanksgiving weekend we had our very last Holiday Home Tour. None of these events could have happened without the support of our community.

A huge thank you to the many individuals and organizations who stepped up with scholarship money to help some of our families in need. We are grateful as always to our families and other community members who sold and purchased Renard’s Cheese products and Schroeder’s poinsettias. Thanks once again to Paul Salm and the staff of Cornerstone Pub in Baileys Harbor for hosting and cooking for our annual Spaghetti Dinner.

Finally, we have more than of a decade of thanks-yous to offer to the numerous homeowners in northern Door County who have opened their homes to make our Holiday Home Tour fundraising event possible. Every one of you made it happen! This year thank you to: Denice and Ken Hubbard, Diane and Ken Blok, Dee Brestin, David Kaster, and Nancy and Jeff Warner for allowing your homes to be on the tour.

We are also grateful to the many businesses who have sponsored this event. Your generosity helped us make each Holiday Home Tour more financially successful, allowing us to help more of our students and their families. We send out a special thanks to this year’s sponsors: Kerber Rose-Certified Public Accountants, Going Garbage and Recycling, Dentistry by Design, and Lakeshore Adventures. We also appreciate A.J. Frank and the fantastic drivers of Door County Trolley.

The Holiday Home Tour was our last. To all our tour guests who purchased tickets and faithfully attended, we are deeply grateful. We are working on something new and exciting so stay tuned!
