Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Supporting Neighbor to Neighbor

During the holiday season, when we are focused on kindness, love of our fellow man, and gratitude, we want to take the time to thank those who helped make the Neighbor to Neighbor 2017 Rib Fest a great success.

First of all, we would like to thank the chefs: Casey’s BBQ & Smokehouse (who has been a part of this event from the very beginning), The Lodge at Leathem Smith, Door County Fire Company, Sonny’s Pizzeria, Jeff’s Sports Bar & Grill, The Bayside Home Medical Team, including Lynell Pickering-Blucher & Luther Blucher and John J. Beck. Without our chefs, this event would not be possible. We realize it takes a significant commitment of time and money to be a chef for this event. Their contribution is truly appreciated!

We also want to thank the sponsors of this event:  Door County Medical Center, Midwest Wire Products LLC, Nicolet National Bank, Blazkovec, Blazkovec & Downey Law Firm, Jilot Insurance, and Catholic Financial Life – Chapter 180, Maplewood. Thank you to our other major donors:  Tadych’s EconoFoods, Ken-Ya-Sing DJ & Karaoke Service (Ken Pollock), DC Printing, The Lodge at Leathem Smith, and all the local businesses and individuals who donated silent auction items. We know that people regularly go to our local businesses looking for donations; we just want you to know the donations shared with the nonprofits truly do make a difference and we greatly appreciate the generosity of the businesses.

And, finally, thanks to those who donated home-baked desserts for the event, our event volunteers, and those who attended the event. All proceeds from the event stay locally to benefit Neighbor to Neighbor programming. The donations of time, talent and treasure will assist us in serving the community through our medical equipment loan program, and our other programs: peer companions for homebound elderly, respite care for family caregivers, and the Lemonade Club, a cancer survivor/patient support group.

We ask that you consider shopping locally during the holiday season, and, while there, thank the local businesses for supporting their community. By working together, we can make lasting positive change in our community.

With gratitude,

Ann M. Bennett, Executive Director, Neighbor to Neighbor
