Letter to the Editor: We Were Warned!

As a progressive pastor, I always look for the metaphor…the symbolism…the bigger picture in what the Scriptures say.

Sodom & Gomorrah is a perfect example:  Though (some) fundamentalists and evangelicals continue to justify their rejection and judgment of same-sex love by pointing to what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah, they forget that the sin of these two cities had nothing to do with homosexuality.

The true sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality…specifically, inhospitality to strangers. For who knows what shape angels take when they visit?

And look at how these twin cities were punished!

What’s the real relevance of the Sodom and Gomorrah story today?

DACA!

“Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” – Ezekiel 16:49

The finger of terrorism – and all of its prompts – points directly at Donald Trump & Company.

So, let’s not turn around…looking for scapegoats.

We were warned.
