Letter to the Editor: More Wealth to the Rich

I am writing this in response to Mr. Schimmer’s letter on “Compensation for Pain and Suffering.” He believes that we should be thankful for the “wealth” generated by the current administration. I take issue with his statement of the “vast majority of us who have money in a pension, IRA, 401(K), individual stocks and mutual funds.” Maybe Mr. Schimmer and his friends are lucky enough and wealthy enough to reap the rewards of the stock market but in reality statistics show that 50 percent of the country is not invested in the stock market. When one is living “hand to mouth” investing and saving is not an option.
