Letter to the Editor: 100 Days to the Election

We are 100 days from the most important election of our lifetimes. COVID-19 has shone a light on three years of failed leadership under President Trump.

In Wisconsin, there have been nearly 40,000 cases of COVID-19, and more than 800 people have died because the Republican-led legislature has undermined every effort Gov. Evers has made to keep people safe. In Door County, we have 80 cases, and those numbers are continuing to rise. Local businesses are hurting, and our families, friends and neighbors are getting sick and some are dying.

Even before COVID-19, I believe the Trump administration had harmed Wisconsin: More than 1,500 dairy farms have failed during the last two years; the administration has weakened our health care programs; and it has allowed large corporations to ignore environmental regulations and threaten our water supplies.

We have learned and experienced much during these last three and a half years, and we have 100 days to work on putting Joe Biden in the White House. We need to end the abuses of the current administration and build stronger communities, a strong economy and a stronger Wisconsin.
