Letter to the Editor: 75% of Americans Approve of the American Rescue Plan

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) was passed by Democrats in the House and Senate without a single Republican vote. Not one! So I thank President Joe Biden for creating and signing this legislation that helps Americans during our economic and COVID-19 crisis. I also thank Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D) and Reps. Mark Pocan (D), Ron Kind (D) and Gwen Moore (D) for voting in favor of the bill and for their support of

American families. With bipartisan support from American voters, Democrats solve the crisis issues facing all of us.

In a recent poll (POLITICO/Morning Consult), 75% of Americans approved of ARP, including 44% of Republicans, but Republican lawmakers did not listen to the people they represent. Instead, national Republican lawmakers refused to approve ARP. 

In state legislatures, Republican lawmakers have proposed more than 250 bills (12 in Wisconsin) to reduce or limit voter access to voting. Some of our representatives are not representing our interests. It’s time for a change!
