Letter to the Editor: A Biblical Perspective

Do you know that our laws have had a biblical basis and foundation? Yet with all the Christian churches in Door County, we are progressively drifting away from our Judeo-Christian faith, especially in the area of  morality.

When has adultery been right? Commandment number seven in Exodus 20:14 brought the death penalty for both parties and also God’s judgment (Lev. 20:10 and Hebrews 13:4).

Fornication is also clearly taught as wrong (1 Cor. 7:2, 1 Cor. 5). It wasn’t until 1983 that the Wisconsin Legislature abolished the criminal sanction for cohabitation.

It would also be good to consider what the Bible has to say about  sodomy, pornography, lasciviousness, lewdness, lust, nakedness and such.

It makes me wonder whether the biblical basis and laws we once stood for in our nation and state will become hate crimes or hate speech. It’s not hate to lovingly teach what God gave to us in the Bible, desiring His blessing and not His judgment. Christians should stand up for moral purity as taught in the Bible.
