Letter to the Editor: Be Safe

Robin Vos, speaker of our Wisconsin Assembly, is encouraging protesters to go to Madison to support suspending the Safer at Home order. I suggest that Mr. Vos and the protesters sign an agreement that says, “I don’t want help if I or a family member gets COVID-19.” That agreement should be posted on their front door.

I wonder whether all those who are protesting the Safer at Home order as an infringement of their rights by the government are returning the stimulus checks they have received from the government.

Those people who say that other illnesses kill more people don’t understand that this virus is putting our first responders, health-care providers, their families and the health-care system in jeopardy. Our economy will recover. It has recovered from the Depression and recessions.

No one is thrilled with having to stay at home, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I have lost a family member to COVID-19, and my youngest daughter, a hospital pharmacist, is on the front line. Let’s move cautiously before removing Safer at Home orders. Politicians should listen to health experts.
