Letter to the Editor: Care for Creation

First of all, thanks for “The Climate Corner,” which keeps these crucial issues before your readers. In response to Dan Dieterich’s recent article [“Responding to a Moral Imperative”] I’m happy to say that my church is one of those which has spoken out about the necessity of addressing issues of climate change. Whether one argues from a Biblical position (our need to be good stewards of God’s creation) or from a moral imperative to care for the poor and vulnerable among us or even from a position of enlightened self interest – that if, in Pope Francis’ words, if we destroy Creation, Creation will destroy us, we reach the same conclusion: we urgently need to accept our responsibility to care for creation.
