Letter to the Editor: Celebrating Staff Appreciation Week, May 3-7

The Southern Door Board of Education would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the Southern Door staff members for their dedication and commitment to our students. This year more than ever, we gratefully admire the creative ways in which they have effectively balanced their time, prioritizing academics and social and emotional learning needs, while also providing support services in nutrition, health and safety, facility needs and transportation.

Although there have been many challenges during this pandemic – and probably more to come – we are impressed by their dedication, their incredible efforts, the innovations and new practices they have implemented, and the continued relationships they develop with

students and their families.

As a district, we are grateful for their strength, positivity, expertise and caring – day in and day out – to provide students with an environment in which they are encouraged not only to reach their potential, but to exceed it! The educational experiences and positive influences that our Southern Door staff provide extend far past the walls of a classroom and give our students the skills they need to accomplish their goals and dreams.

Working in education is one of the noblest professions, and we thank these staff members for choosing Southern Door as their home.
