On Sunday evening, Aug. 13, at the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center in Egg Harbor, our friend suffered cardiac arrest during the Skerryvore concert.
Fortunately, there was a local paramedic sitting behind us who immediately came to her aid. Within minutes, numerous medical specialists who were also attending the concert came to assist, including two cardiologists, an anesthesiologist and emergency-room personnel. Other attendees helped to secure the area and called 911.
A defibrillator was not immediately available. The doctors performed CPR for five minutes before an AED was brought from the Kress Pavilion, and our friend’s heartbeat was restored.
We want to thank the Sturgeon Bay emergency medical responders, the local first responder, and all of you who assisted in saving our friend’s life. We also encourage all of you to take a CPR course because you never know when you may be called upon to save someone’s life.
