Letter to the Editor:  Confronting Water Contamination in Kewaunee County

After more than a year of meetings, the rollout of recommendations last June, more scrutiny the past six months since June, the Kewaunee Co. Board will vote on a resolution to accept these recommendations at their Jan. 19 meeting, beginning 6 pm, at the administration building in Kewaunee. The county board not only needs to accept but act on this resolution for the public’s health, welfare, and safety. (Please note: prior to the meeting, check with the Kewaunee County Clerk’s office to make sure this item is still scheduled for January agenda.)

A show of community support is needed.

Nearly 200 citizens attended the June presentation of workshop recommendations on water contamination co-sponsored by the County (which included many of our neighbors participating on the committees), DNR and EPA. Action, by your presence at the board meeting, or by contacting your county board representative (phone, mail, email, in person) and contacting Board Chairman Bob Weidner is essential.
