Letter to the Editor: COVID Will Not Disappear

Bob Ryan’s letter in the Nov. 13 issue of the Pulse makes a great point in noting how the country pulled together against a common enemy during World War II, and it brings up the question of why the threat posed by COVID-19 has not inspired a similar response in today’s America.

The answer to this is complex, but one thing we know for sure is that on Dec. 8, 1941, FDR did not say, “One day – it’s like a miracle – the Japanese will disappear.”
