Letter to the Editor: Demand Change

In the words of Harry Truman, “We need to wake up to the fact that we the people are responsible for the government we get.” What we have seen and experienced this year are lies, hypocrisy, an increase in fear and hate, and the untimely death of more than 200,000 of our fellow Americans.

This has been brought to us by the government in charge of our country. When a party in charge uses these tactics against us to stay in power, they all must go, even if it’s a party we prefer. Republicans and Democrats need to understand that we will not normalize an abnormal leader or the silence of elected representatives who are protecting him.

The parties need to understand that every four years, we will evaluate and then make this decision. If in doubt, vote them out. We must save ourselves because no one else is coming. Then maybe one day we might get an ethical, compassionate and just government, regardless of party.

We must demand honesty in our government officials because truth makes our country and the world better.
