Letter to the Editor: Dismantling Obama’s Presidency

With each action President Trump takes it is becoming more evident that his program is not being guided by the needs of the American people but by his psychopathic obsession to try to undo any accomplishments made by his predecessor Barack Obama. Before he was elected he began his assault with stories that Obama was disqualified to be president because of his birthplace. He failed in his attempt to destroy Obamacare although his GOP colleagues have significantly weakened the program. He has pulled our country out of the Paris climate agreement and has removed regulations put in place by Obama to help clean the air and water. He has pulled the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and his latest move is to remove our country from the Iran Accord. He and his GOP colleagues could have worked to strengthen these programs but Trump is determined  to erase any program inspired by Obama. During his presidency he has seized every opportunity to criticize Obama mostly with false or misleading statements. As an example he takes credit for the release of three detainees from North Korea implying that Obama couldn’t do it when in fact two of the people released were taken during his (Trump’s) watch. Trump’s forte is to try to build himself up by tearing others down. A recent poll by the American Political Science Association ranking U.S. presidents, including Trump, ranked Obama number eight and although he hasn’t completed his term Trump is dead last.
