Letter to the Editor: Doing Our Part to Lessen the Problem

Today we set aside time to honor the people who gave their lives in all the wars fought since our country began. In the midst of fighting the coronavirus, we owe a thank-you to all the people who are selflessly saving lives and preventing the spread of this insidious disease.

Thank you to business owners who have spent the time and money to protect their employees and customers. We should support them. Buy local when possible.

And thank you to police officers, firefighters, EMTs, teachers and mask makers. Support them, and don’t take them for granted or diminish the efforts and sacrifices they have made to this point.

More testing will reveal more positive cases. A surge this fall and winter is very likely. More research will provide more answers. More answers will provide better guidelines. Progress will be made.

Use common sense with wearing a mask and using hand and surface sanitizers and social distancing. It’s almost free. If each of us does his or her part, we won’t become a part of the problem, politics aside.
