I agree with Mr. Cal Burnton [“Gibraltar Utility Fee Is a Fair Way to Pay for Roads,” Letters to the Editor, Peninsula Pulse, Aug. 26 – Sept. 2 issue] that costs of road improvements should be shared by all residents, but they’ve always been solely through the annual property-tax levy and should remain so – not by a special assessment in the guise of a fee imposed more on some than on others, including nonprofits, in order to contain the mill rate.
Mr. Clemens Hedeen [“Opposed to Gibraltar’s Transportation ‘Fee,’” Letters to the Editor, Peninsula Pulse, Aug. 12-19 issue] is entirely correct. Same goes for street lighting.
