Letter to the Editor: Improvements in the Towns in Door County

Ephraim is a wonderful little town that my family and I have loved since the late 1980s. We have always loved to come up to Door County to get away from the hustle of the city – to relax and refresh for a week or so.

Since those days, my husband and I purchased a condo in Door County. We were able to look at the bright stars at night because of the dark towns, able to see the shooting bits of comet in August.

Today we have seen the changes that the little towns have gone through – all of them. Some good, some not so good. Some of these so-called

improvements are bringing the city life up to Door County: lighted streets, curbs, pubs and building more homes and condos seem to be losing the flavor of why we come up here.

A moratorium on some improvements might not be a bad thing – something to consider at your next town-hall meeting. My children and grandchildren feel the same way, as I assume most other families feel, too.
