Letter to the Editor: Leaf-Blower Rage!

As much as I recognize that showing manhood based on the size of a person’s leaf blower is important for some, does any leaf-blowing enthusiast recognize the impact that these tools have on others?

The idea that a machine that sounds like a passing train should be allowed to operate to remove leaves from a driveway seems preposterous, especially in a place such as Door County, where most people come to get away from the noise and hustle and bustle of city life.

Door County, please think before firing up the leaf blower on the first nice day of spring (or any other day, for that matter). Other people are affected. Be respectful of their desire for peace and quiet, and pick up a rake. You might even enjoy the sounds of silence!
