Letter to the Editor: Legislators Don’t Rule My Body

For those of you who object, as I do, to the decision by (mostly male) legislators that they know better than I how best to take care of my physical health, I have a modest suggestion: every time you or a family member needs to make a dentist appointment, have an eye exam, get an annual physical, or make some other kind of arrangement to see a health care provider, call your legislator and ask permission first! If we all did that, perhaps we’d finally make the point that our physical health and well-being is our business, not theirs!
