Letter to the Editor: Many Thanks to Everyone Involved in Celebrity Golf Outing

The Boys & Girls Club of Door County would like to thank all those involved in making our 7th Annual Celebrity Golf Outing a resounding success. The outing was held on Tuesday, June 7, at the prestigious Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor.

We have many to thank for the outcome of this event, which raised approximately $80,000 for the youth of Door County, bringing our seven-year fundraising total from these golf outings to over $400,000!

All of these funds stay in Door County to help support the Club, which now serves nearly 500 youth every year.

The outing would not have been possible without the tremendous support of our presenting sponsor, Jim Olson Motors; our major sponsors, Triangle Distributing, Associated Bank, Ministry Door County Medical Center, the T. Danis Charitable Trust, Bel Gioioso Cheese and CHT; our lunch sponsor Cellcom; our 50 tee/green sponsors; our hole-in-one sponsors, Dave & Gini Roback and Jim Olson Motors; and Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort for providing accommodations for our out-of-state celebrities.

Our thanks also goes out to our Door County newspapers and radio stations for their excellent coverage; without their assistance we could never have reached out to so many people.

A special thank you goes to Nick Freimuth for conducting the live auction as well as moderating the very entertaining celebrity panel discussion. Kudos to all who donated items for the live auction and the generous bidders who contributed to the success of the outing.

Thank you to all who contributed to the summer scholarship program which will allow numerous children to come to the Boys & Girls Club this summer who may not have had the opportunity without these generous donors.

And then, there is our golf outing committee (Mark Knapp, Dave Pape, Rich Board, Arleigh Porter, Bill Mundy and Elfriede Leporte) and the volunteers who help plan, work, organize and set up for this great event.

We truly appreciate our celebrities for traveling, at their own expense, to be with us and we extend a heartfelt thank you to the following: Zeke Bratkowski, Chris Greisen, Nick Greisen, Doug Hart, Jerry Kramer, Mark Murphy, Joel Przybilla, Harry Sydney, Mark Tauscher and Marti Spittell Ziegelbauer.

Last but not least, we thank our Door County golfers and Door County Trolley participants for their ongoing support, plus all the other golfers from Green Bay, Neenah, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and beyond to support our cause.

All of you are so appreciated; we couldn’t have done this without your support. Thank you, each and every one of you for making a difference in the lives of the youth of our community!
