Letter to the Editor: Paying It Forward at Papa Murphy’s

We all know the saying “pay it forward.” Well I would like to share a “pay it forward” story. I am a manager at Papa Murphy’s in Sturgeon Bay and last week Thursday one of my crew members decided to pay it forward to the next customer who came to our store. The reason is that she had a assignment for school on paying it forward and she thought what better way to do it than by doing it at work. She ended up doing just that and then told the customer to pay it forward as well.

She went back to work and continued her duties as usual. Well the customer who had it paid forward had left then turned around and came back and paid it forward to another customer in the store and then left. But the greatest thing about this is that the customer and his young son that where there to get pizza were very surprised and thankful that it was paid forward to him. The young man, with his son, had shared with me that he had lost his job a while back and had a interview soon but how grateful he was.

It just touched me in a way that I needed to share this and wanted my employee to be recognized and how she really affected the young man as well. I told her what happened due to her being in the back of the house about the man and young boy and how he lost his job and what a beautiful thing she had started. I said put that in your story for school. She was in awe when she heard about him.

Something so simple and small became something so big and beautiful. Just want her to be recognized. Her name is Arianna.
