Letter to the Editor: Prophecy?

“Americans will suffocate from their freedoms!” Indeed … Quite a prophetic pre-COVID-19 statement by a Pakistani character in the 2012 movie American Dervish.

And also the tragic, frightening ending for so many unvaxed, unmasked victims of COVID-19, exercising their rights (to infect others?), or even just victims of plain ignorance. Yes, it’s happening.

Reminds me of the Russian threat from 1956: “We will bury you!” Yes, that is happening as well.

Why are so many not taking this seriously? God’s will? The creator and destroyer? Just too unpleasant to think about? What is the source of the distrust?

I suggest certain unethical “news” outlets, full of innuendo and propaganda, supported by free speech. And of course, lying politicians. So we have come full circle: suffocating democracy.
