Letter to the Editor: Right to Life Walk on Jan. 21

As we mark 44 years of legalized abortion, the Door County Chapter of Wis. Right to Life will again be having a silent Candlelight Prayer Vigil Walk on Saturday, Jan. 21, starting at 6:30 pm, meeting in front of the Government Center, 421 Nebraska St., and proceeding to the hospital.

This silent prayer vigil walk is in memory of the millions of babies killed, the innocent lives that are threatened because of legalized abortion, and for their mothers victimized by society. Abortion is a tragedy, because many have lost sight of the respect and the dignity of human life. Abortion is the ultimate child abuse. Kids born between 1980-2000 make up the Millennials and are the most aborted generation in our nation’s history. The U.S. is missing almost a quarter of its 84 million Millennials. That’s a lot of young people who never had a chance to post a “selfie” on Twitter or Instagram.

Eight thoughts to ponder as you pass each of these places on the walk: government center – symbolizing the legalization of abortion; school – each child a gift from God; track & baseball fields – sport champions never allowed to live, talents and abilities never seen; funeral home – lives lost, abortion stops a beating heart; vision center – see with the eyes of your heart and focus on life not death; churches – direction of hope and forgiveness; dialysis center – symbol of cleansing and being renewed; hospital – life saving facility.

Join us! Dress warm, bring an enclosed candle or lantern, and walk in silent prayer from the Government Center on Nebraska Street to Door County Medical Center. If you cannot walk, place a candle in your window Saturday night and join in prayer. Your participation shows you care. Everyone is welcome for refreshments in the hospital cafeteria following the walk. Bring a friend(s). For more information call 920.743.2260 or 920.559.2811.
