Letter to the Editor: Right to Life Walk

As we mark 46 years of legalized abortion, the Door County Chapter of Wis. Right to Life will again have a silent Candlelight Prayer Vigil Walk on Monday, Jan. 21, starting at 6:30 pm, meeting in front of the Government Center, 421 Nebraska St., and proceeding to the hospital.

This silent prayer vigil walk is in memory of the millions of innocent lives that are lost or threatened because of legalized abortion, and for the mothers and fathers. Abortion is a tragedy, because many have lost sight of the respect and the dignity of human life. Abortion is the ultimate child abuse. A lot of young people have never had a chance to make a difference in this world.

Eight thoughts to ponder as you pass each of the places on the walk: government center – symbolizing the legalization of abortion; school – each child a gift from God; track & baseball fields – sport champions never allowed to live, talents and abilities never seen; funeral home – lives lost, abortion stops a beating heart; vision center – see with the eyes of your heart and focus on life not death; churches – direction of hope and forgiveness; dialysis center – symbol of cleansing and being renewed; hospital – life-saving facility.

Dress warm, bring an enclosed candle or lantern, and walk in silent prayer. If you cannot walk, place a candle in your window Monday night and join in prayer. Your participation shows you care. Bring a friend(s). For more information call 920.743.2260 or 920.743.6000.
