As Door County residents and voters for the past 40 years, we are casting our votes for Tammy Sternard for Door County Sheriff in the upcoming election.
Sternard is not only hardworking, caring and trustworthy; she has the integrity we expect to see in our sheriff. Integrity is vitally important to us – making the right decisions because they are right, not because they are easy.
Having over 25 years experience with the Sheriff’s office and over a decade of administrative experience, Sternard is well versed in all aspects of law enforcement, as well as working closely with other agencies, budgeting and managing funds, hiring, supervising providing staff training. Lieutenant Sternard is prepared to meet the challenges of school safety, increased mental illness awareness and needs, drug-related issues, and the general safety of residents.
While overseeing a county jail where a large portion of the population has mental health issues, Sternard has promoted the increase of mental health services in the jail. She has worked with community partners to establish Operation Fresh Start to help reduce recidivism rates in Door County by providing offenders with training and preparation for their successful re-entry into the community upon release.
Her tireless involvement in the community, through Southern Door School Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Shop with a Cop, to name just a few, shows that she is dedicated to our Door County community.
Careful and deliberate consideration brings us to our decision to vote for Tammy Sternard.
