Letter to the Editor: Thank You

While visiting Door County at the end of February our son, Justin Sager, became ill and sought care from the Emergency Room at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, and passed away within a few days due to septic shock. We wish to thank the staff in the Emergency Room (especially Nurse Jill and Dr. George Gorchynsky) and the ambulance crew that transported our son to St. Vincent Hospital for their display of loving care and kindheartedness.

To all our friends in Door County who supported us through their prayers, hospital visits, phone calls, and texts we wish to express our sincerest appreciation as you sustained us and gave us the strength to carry on. Our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Frank and Anne Kauzlarich and our church family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Juddville and to our dear friends Dan and Patricia Kiehnau and their family. We also wish to thank Todd Huehns and his family at Huehns Funeral Home for caring for Justin’s remains so we could bring him home to Illinois for burial.

Door County is so fortunate to have such a hospital that provides compassionate care and a funeral home such as Huehns that demonstrates such gentle benevolent care. Our deepest appreciation to all who had a hand in caring for Justin during his illness and after his death.
