Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Making Thanksgiving Meal Possible

The 39th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner held at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church was a rousing success feeding over 360 individuals. More than 180 people dined at church and another 180 home deliveries and carry out meals were provided. People who would have been alone or had no one to be with on the holiday enjoyed warm fellowship and a delicious home-cooked meal.

This event, started in 1979, continues to be successful largely due to tremendous community support! We want to thank the 100-plus volunteers who worked so hard throughout the week to organize, prepare, cook, bake, serve, deliver and clean up. Many are from our church, but many others are from the wider community. An effort of this magnitude requires teamwork, and we continue to be blessed by many willing workers.

A special note of thanks to our anonymous donors and to the following area businesses and organizations that supported our meal this year: Bank of Luxemburg, Forbes Funeral Home, Hatco Team, Huehns Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Jim Olson Motors, Maas Floral and Greenhouse, Nicolet Bank, North Shore Bank, Pick ‘N Save, Roder Farms, Sturgeon Bay Health Services, Sully’s Produce, Tadych’s Econo Foods, Tanum Forest Lutheran Church, and Walmart.
